Diversity

In the U.S. there are many different cultures blended together to form the U.S. own culture. People immigrate to the U.S. from all over the world. A lot of the cultural influence in America comes from Hispanic heritage. Places like Latin America and Spanish speaking countries in Europe. That is why so many people in America speak Spanish. People have also immigrated to the U.S. from countries in Asia.
The U.S. supports peoples different heritages by promoting freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of assembly. All of these unalienable rights help people who may have different beliefs than others express themselves without being discriminated against. Another way that Americans promote understanding among people from different cultural backgrounds is by not forcing any other persons religion or beliefs on others. An example of this is free prayer in school. Everybody is not forced to pray in one language or to one god. You may choose who to pray to or even if you wish to pray at all.
All together I think that America does a good job of handling the task of being a mixing bowl of cultures.

Favorite Place in the U.S.

There are several places in the U.S. that I love to be. First of all I love Austin, Texas. Not only because it is my hometown, but I also love all the wonderful things that make Austin unique. Austin is one of those cities where you can live there for your whole life and you still find things and places you've never seen before. I love all the people, places, festivals, etc. that make Austin the fabulous place that it is today.
I also love going to Florida every summer with my sister and my daddy. We always go to the same, small town, and stay in the same place. We go to the same restaurants and do the same activities, we sometimes even hang out with the same people. The town that we go to is called Seagrove. Its located about an hour outside of Destin, and is in a row of tiny towns such as Seaside and Watercolor. I always enjoy going down there and being on the beach.
The last, but certainly not the least, favorite place of mine in the U.S. is Jeromesville, Ohio. This is where my grandparents live and where my mom grew up. Every time we go up to visit we always see the ENTIRE family. We're a crazy bunch, but we always have so much fun. All of the cousins are really close, my sister and one of my cousins even have the same name. And they're only six months apart in age.
Although there are lots of places in the U.S. these are by far my favorites.

Terrorists

There have been a few terrorist attacks in America. The biggest and one that caused the most trauma and damage would be 9/11, the attack of the World Trade Center. There have also been attacks on the Pentagon and some plans to attack the White House. I guess the terrorists motives are that America is a threat to them. I suppose they think that our government is going to try to destroy thier country or maybe some of the customs we have in the U.S. are against their religion. What our country does to protect itself is start wars with the countries that we think might be a threat to us. I dont think that it is a very efficiant way of protection but the government does, so thats how we protect ourselves.

My School

I go to Anderson High School. This school is great. Its layed out pretty well. I like it a lot because we have little courtyards all over the school. I think it makes the school unique and kinda pretty. Sporting events are very important at school. But it's not just football. Alot of the other sports are recognized as well as football. And each sport has their own traditions. Aside from sports there are clubs like speach and debate, drama, choir, orchastra, band, yoga, visual arts, etc. Basically everybody interests are covered. And if theres something that you are interested where a club or class is not offered or available you can always create it.

Illegal Immigrants

There are illegal immigrants in the U.S. The people refered to as illegal immigrants are people who have come to America and have not been certified as a citizen. They come to the U.S. for many different reasons. Some come for work, family, freedom, or maybe just to have a better life in general. The U.S. is not very friendly about them. We have many laws about them. They must be certified as U.S. citizens or at least have their green card to be able to stay in the U.S.

my summer.

This summer was a lot of fun. I mostly just hung out with my friends, which I always enjoy but I also got to spend some time with my family. I went to West Columbia, Texas to visit my grandpa and grandma on my dads side. Then I saw my moms side of the family when we went on a trip out west. This trip included two of my aunts, two of my uncles, my mom, my grandmother and I hiking from the north rim to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing experience. But also very hard.
My grandmother acctually got over heated and very dehydrated and took an extra day to come up. One set of my aunts and uncles stayed behind to help her, but it was a very difficult and stressfull experience. She acctually had to get taken to the hospital when she got out and we were all very worried about her. But she is doing great now and acctually wants to try the hike again. Only this time not in July.
I would also like to try to do the hike again. But this time I want to see if I can do it in one day. It will deffinatly be hard but I think I can do it. Over all my summer was great.

Me!

Hi-

My name is Olivia. I'm a very friendly person and I talk a lot. I have always loved making new friends and still do. I also love to stay active. To do so I play volleyball and soccer. I am on my high schools volleyball team and it is so much fun. All the other girls on the team are amazing and we all get along great. I play select soccer for the River City Rangers and I have been for about four or five years. Soccer is my main sport and I love to play. When I'm not busy with school or sports I love just hanging out with my friends. We always have so much fun and I wouldn't trade them in for anything. My family means so much to me. I have a little sister named Caroline who is about nine, and a dog named Twix. Along with my wonderful parents we make a great family. I love my life and will continue to make it the best it can possibly be because I expect nothing less.
